  • Target

    SUCLG2 (Succinate-CoA Ligase, GDP-Forming, beta Subunit (SUCLG2))

    Alternative Name

    SUCLG2

    Background

    Synonyms: Neuropeptides B/W receptor type 1, G-protein coupled receptor 7, NPBWR1, GPR7

Tissue Specificity: Found in cerebellum and frontal cortex. Detected at high levels in hippocampus, amygdala and trachea, at moderate levels in fetal brain, pituitary gland and prostate. Not in caudate, accumbens, kidney or liver. Also detected at high levels in lung carcinoma.

Background: Succinyl-CoA ligase [GDP-forming] subunit beta, mitochondrial is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SUCLG2 gene on chromosome 3. This gene encodes a GTP-specific beta subunit of succinyl-CoA synthetase. Succinyl-CoA synthetase catalyzes the reversible reaction involving the formation of succinyl-CoA and succinate. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 5 and 12.
