    Alternative Name
    GRPEL1 (GRPEL1 Products)
    Background

Synonyms: Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 9, Mediator complex subunit 9, MED9, MED25,

Tissue Specificity: Expressed in fetal brain, fetal lung, fetal liver, heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, muscle, kidney and pancreas.

Background: Essential component of the PAM complex, a complex required for the translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins from the inner membrane into the mitochondrial matrix in an ATP-dependent manner. Seems to control the nucleotide-dependent binding of mitochondrial HSP70 to substrate proteins.
