Background
- LZIC is closely related to ICAT, a physiological inhibitor ofthe Wnt pathway that interacts physically and functionally withβ-catenin to prevent the transcription ofWnt target genes. LZIC'sICAT-homologousregion is highly similarto ICAT with particular conservation ofresiduesthat are used by ICAT forβ-catenin-binding. LZIC does not interactwithβ-catenin in vitro orin vivo. LZIC is a protein conserved in vertebrates, isrequired for neuronal survival.
