Background
- Laminins are large hetero-trimeric, non-collagenous glycoproteins found in basement membranes and composed of α, β, and γ chains. A5 reacts specifically with γ chain 1. Alterations of basement membrane integrity, from local discontinuities up to complete loss, are described in many types of human and animal epithelial neoplasms. Positive control: Normal colon or carcinomas.
