Background
- Angiogenin (ANG) also known as Ribonuclease 5 is a small 123 amino acid protein that in humans is encoded by the ANG gene. Predicted to enable several functions, including actin binding activity, heparin binding activity, and protein homodimerization activity. Involved in liver development. Predicted to be located in several cellular components, including growth cone, neuronal cell body, and nucleolus. Predicted to be part of angiogenin-PRI complex. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in diabetic retinopathy, myocardial infarction, neurodegenerative disease (multiple), and prostate cancer. Orthologous to human ANG (angiogenin).
