Background
- Numb-like protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NUMBL gene. NUMBL [numb (drosophila) homolog-like] is functionally related to NUMB, a protein that plays an essential role in the determination of cell fate for sensory organ and neural development. Polyglutamine repeats in the NUMBL gene have been associated with schizophrenia in two unrelated populations. Alternate names for NUMBL include NBL, CAG3A, CTG3a, NUMBR, TNRC23, and NUMBLIKE.
