    Background

METRNL antibody detects Meteorin-like protein, a secreted cytokine-like factor involved in energy metabolism, inflammation, and tissue regeneration. The UniProt recommended name is Meteorin-like protein (METRNL). Also known as Subfatin or Cometin, this glycoprotein modulates immune responses and promotes tissue repair through activation of anti-inflammatory macrophages and adipose thermogenesis.

Functionally, METRNL antibody identifies a 311-amino-acid secreted protein expressed in skeletal muscle, adipose tissue, and immune cells. METRNL is released during exercise and cold exposure, stimulating IL4-dependent macrophage activation that enhances energy expenditure and tissue remodeling. It also supports nerve regeneration and angiogenesis in damaged tissues.

The METRNL gene is located on chromosome 17q25.3 and encodes a protein structurally related to Meteorin (METRN). Its expression is induced by PGC1-alpha and STAT6 pathways, linking metabolic and immune regulation. METRNL functions as an intercellular communicator coordinating metabolic adaptation and immune homeostasis.

Pathologically, dysregulated METRNL expression is associated with metabolic disorders, obesity, and inflammation. Increased METRNL levels correlate with improved insulin sensitivity and energy balance, while reduced expression is linked to chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Research using METRNL antibody supports studies in metabolism, immunology, and regenerative biology.

METRNL antibody is suitable for ELISA, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry to detect circulating and tissue-localized Meteorin-like protein. NSJ Bioreagents provides validated METRNL antibody reagents optimized for metabolic signaling, cytokine biology, and muscle physiology research.

Structurally, Meteorin-like protein contains a conserved alpha-helical fold characteristic of secreted growth factors. Its glycosylation and secretion signal peptide facilitate stable extracellular function. This antibody enables detailed study of METRNL's dual roles in metabolic control and immune modulation.
