Background
- WDR4 (WD Repeat-Containing Protein 4), also known as TRM82, is a member of the WD repeat protein family. WD repeats are minimally conserved regions of approximately 40 amino acids typically bracketed by gly-his and trp-asp (GH-WD), which may facilitate formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes. WDR4 is the non-catalytic subunit of N7-methylguanosine (m7G). WRD4 and METTL1 form a complex required for tRNA (guanine(46)-N(7))-methyltransferase activity. This complex catalyzes tRNA m7G methylation to enhance translation efficiency.
