- OAS2 (2'-5' Oligoadenylate Synthetase 2 (OAS2))
-
Alternative Name
- OAS2
-
Background
-
Background: 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase 2 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the OAS2 gene. Enables 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase activity and double-stranded RNA binding activity. Involved in defense response to virus, regulation of lactation, and type I interferon signaling pathway. Acts upstream of or within RNA catabolic process, interleukin-27-mediated signaling pathway, and response to bacterium. Predicted to be located in perinuclear region of cytoplasm. Predicted to be active in cytosol, membrane, and nucleoplasm. Is expressed in embryo. Orthologous to human OAS2 (2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase 2).
