Background
-
Background: Thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the THBS2 gene. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. The THBS2 is mapped to 6q27 and it is located on chromosome 17. The gene was transcribed in fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and an osteosarcoma cell line. It functions as a protein inhibitor of tumor growth and angiogenesis and modulates the cell surface properties of mesenchymal cells and be involved in cell adhesion and migration.
Gene Full Name: thrombospondin 2
Sequence Similarities: Belongs to the thrombospondin family.
