Purpose
- Anti-Fibronectin Antibody
-
Specificity
- CSI 005-32 is highly specific for fibronectin. There is no evidence for cross-reactivity with other connective tissue proteins (vitronectin, elastin, collagen, laminin). The antibody inhibits cell adhesion to fibronectin mediated by the heparin-binding domain. Epitope is located in the 40kD Hep II heparin-binding domain.

Background
- FN1, fibronectin 1,Fibronectins bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectins are involved in cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonization, wound healing, and maintenance of cell shape (By similarity). Involved in osteoblast compaction through the fibronectin fibrillogenesis cell-mediated matrix assembly process, essential for osteoblast mineralization. Participates in the regulation of type I collagen deposition by osteoblasts (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P02751, ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P11276}., [Anastellin]: Binds fibronectin and induces fibril formation. This fibronectin polymer, named superfibronectin, exhibits enhanced adhesive properties. Both anastellin and superfibronectin inhibit tumor growth, angiogenesis and metastasis. Anastellin activates p38 MAPK and inhibits lysophospholipid signaling. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P02751}., Secreted by contracting muscle, induces liver autophagy, a degradative pathway for nutrient mobilization and damage removal, and systemic insulin sensitization via hepatic ITGA5:ITGB1 integrin receptor signaling. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P11276}.,FN1,Fibronectin is an adhesive glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 440 kDa. It is believed to be important for the formation of a provisional matrix that promotes cell adhesion and migration during wound healing. Its age-dependent increase in plasma and tissues may be accompanied in pathological states, especially in tumor growth, by its proteolytic breakdown by a number of neutral proteases. It has also shown that several of its proteolytic breakdown products exhibit unexpected and mostly harmful biological activities. (1)
