  • Purpose

    Anti-Alpha-Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (alpha-CGRP) Antibody

    Specificity

ABIN8065541 binds human α-CGRP. Based on inhibition ELISA, ABIN8065541 cross-reacts up to 12 % with human β-CGRP and human amylin, while there is little (<4 %) cross-reaction with rat α-CGRP. The epitope lies within residues 19-37 of human α-CGRP.

CGRP (CALCA) (Calcitonin-Related Polypeptide alpha (CALCA))

    Alternative Name

    Alpha-Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide

    Background

CALCA, CALC1, CGRP, CGRP-I, CGRP-alpha, CGRP1, CT, KC, PCT, calcitonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide 1, alpha-type CGRP, calcitonin 1, calcitonin gene-related peptide I, calcitonin/calcitonin-related polypeptide, alpha, katacalcin,CGRP1/CALCA is a peptide hormone that induces vasodilation mediated by the CALCRL-RAMP1 receptor complex (PubMed:1318039, PubMed:33602864, PubMed:9620797). Dilates a variety of vessels including the coronary, cerebral and systemic vasculature. Its abundance in the CNS also points toward a neurotransmitter or neuromodulator role (PubMed:3492492). It also elevates platelet cAMP (PubMed:1318039). CGRP1 can also bind and activate CALCR-RAMP1 (AMYR1) receptor complex (PubMed:38603770). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:1318039, ECO:0000269|PubMed:33602864, ECO:0000269|PubMed:3492492, ECO:0000269|PubMed:38603770, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9620797}.,CALCA,Calcitonin gene-related peptide is a 37 amino acid vasoactive neuropeptide (MW 3789) widely expressed throughout the central and peripheral nervous system. CGRP has potent vasodilatory effects probably serving as a regulator of regional blood flow, in addition to a variety of other cellular effects.
