    Background
KLF1(Erythroid krueppel-like transcription factor) (Erythroid transcription factor) binds to the CACCC BOX in the beta-globin gene promoter and activates transcription. It probably serves as a general switch factor for erythroid development. It belongs to the krueppel family of C2H2-type Zinc-finger proteins.
