Application Notes
- Useful in Sandwich ELISA for Quantitative Detection of Antigen. Aliquot 0.1 mL per well of the 3000pg/mL, 1500pg/mL, 750pg/mL,419.pg/mL, 187.5pg/mL, 93.8pg/mL, 46.9pg/mL rat EPO standard solutions into the precoated 96-well plate. Add 0.1 mL of the sample diluent buffer into the control well (Zero well). Add 0.1 mL of each properly diluted sample of rat cell culture supernatants, serum, plasma(heparin) or tissue homogenates to each empty well. We recommend that each rat EPO standard solution and each sample is measured in duplicate.

Background: Erythropoietin, EPO, also known as hematopoietin or hemopoietin, is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoiesis, or red blood cell production. It is a cytokine for erythrocyte (red blood cell) precursors in the bone marrow. This gene is mapped to 7q22. It is said that the EPO gene encodes a deduced 193-amino acid propolypeptide. This hormone can be found in kidney and liver. It is the hormone that regulates red blood cell production. And it plays an important role in the brain's response to neuronal injury. What's more, EPO is also involved in the wound healing process.
