    Alternative Name

    Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor

    Background

VEGF is a heparin-binding glycoprotein, which can exist in a number of different isoforms. The protein has been found to be a potent inducer of angiogeneis and endothelial cell proliferation and plays an important role in regulating vasculogenesis. VEGF can be detected in both the plasma and serum and has been implicated in several disease states associated with augmented angiogenesis.,Vascular endothelial growth factor, VEGFA, Gliomaderived growth endothelial growth factor (GD-VEGF), Vasculotrophin (VAS), Vascular endothelial cell proliferation factor, Vascular permeability factor (VPF).
