Background: Cyclin O belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family. These family members are characterized by a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclin O plays an important role in the processes of transcription. Cyclin O also plays an important role in DNA repair and cell cycle progression. Cyclin O localizes exclusively in the nucleus (1).
