Description: Purified human fetal fibronectin protein.
Background: Fibronectin is a high-molecular weight (~440 kDa) glycoprotein of the extracellular matrix, belongs to a family of high molecular weight glycoproteins that are present on cell surfaces, in extracellular fluids, connective tissues, and basement membranes. Two major forms of fibronectin exist: a plasma soluble form and a cellular form. It plays a major role in cell adhesion, growth, migration, and differentiation, and it is important for processes such as wound healing and embryonic development. Fibronectin has been implicated in carcinoma development, and also acts as a potential biomarker for radioresistance.
