Background
-
Protein Background: HIPK3 (Homeodomain Interacting Protein Kinase 3), also known as FIST. It is a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in transcription regulation, apoptosis and steroidogenic gene expression, HIPK3 phosphorylates JUN and RUNX2. It seems to negatively regulate apoptosis by promoting FADD phosphorylation and enhances androgen receptormediated transcription. It may also act as a transcriptional co-repressor for NK homeodomain transcription factors. In osteoblasts, HIPK3 supports transcription activation and phosphorylates RUNX2 that synergizes with SPEN/MINT to enhance FGFR2 mediated activation of the osteocalcin FGF-responsive element (OCFRE).
Short Description: Recombinant HIPK3 (163-562) protein that includes amino acids 163-562 of human HIPK3 protein (accession number NP_005725.3) was expressed in a baculovirus expression system, and contains an N-terminal FLAG tag. The molecular weight of the protein is 46.6 kDa.
Aliases: Homeodomain Interacting Protein Kinase 3, DYRK6, FIST3, YAK1
