    Handling Advice

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, keep on ice when not in storage

    Storage

    -80 °C

    Storage Comment

Recombinant proteins in solution are temperature sensitive and must be stored at -80°C to prevent degradation. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles and keep on ice when not in storage.

    Background

Protein Background: SUMO3 (Small ubiquitin-related modifier 3) is a ubiquitin-like protein which can be covalently attached to target lysines either as a monomer or as a lysine-linked polymer. Does not seem to be involved in protein degradation and may function as an antagonist of ubiquitin in the degradation process. Plays a role in a number of cellular processes such as nuclear transport, DNA replication and repair, mitosis and signal transduction. Covalent attachment to its substrates requires prior activation by the E1 complex SAE1-SAE2 and linkage to the E2 enzyme UBE2I, and can be promoted by an E3 ligase such as PIAS1-4, RANBP2 or CBX4. Plays a role in the regulation of sumoylation status of SETX.

Short Description: Recombinant SUMO3 protein - biotinylated that includes full length of human SUMO3 protein (accession number NP_008867.2) was expressed in E. coli and contains an N-terminal His & Avi tag with a molecular weight of 15.89 kDa. This protein has been modified by biotin in vivo. The purity of the protein is ≥ 90 % by SDS-PAGE.

Aliases: SMT3A, SMT3H1, Small ubiquitin related modifiers, Smt3B
