GFP-Booster
ChromoTek offers the GFP-Booster which are GFP-binding proteins coupled to a fluorescent dye (from ATTO-TEC). The GFP-Booster can be used to increase, stabilize and reactivate fluorescent protein signals for immunofluorescence (IF) staining.

GFP-Booster for enhancing GFP
Fluorescent proteins (FP) are used as a fluorescent label to track gene expression, nuclear localization and cell dynamics. There are, however, some shortcomings to genetically encoded fluorescent proteins (FPs). For example, the photo stability and the quantum efficiency of GFP are not sufficient for super-resolution microscopy (3D-SIM or STED). Additionally, many cell biological procedures for FISH or BrdU detection disrupt the GFP signal.
The GFP-Booster consists of a fluorescent dye covalently bound to GFP-binding proteins providing high fluorescence intensities and signal-to-noise ratios.
GFP-Booster Applications
- Immunofluorescence stainings (IF)
- Histological stainings (IHC)
GFP-Booster

Enhancement of the GFP signal with GFP-Booster_Atto488. Comparison of the signal intensity of a HeLa cell line stably expressing a nuclear GFP-fusion protein before and after GFP-Booster treatment.
Available Booster products
In addition to the GFP-Booster, the RFP-Booster is also available.
You may find a protocol and publications that have used the GFP- or RFP-Booster on our website.
