Characteristics
- Rat IL17-A (also known as Interleukin-17, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 8 and CTLA-8) is a proinflammatory cytokine member of a six-species family of proteins (IL-17A-17F). Rat IL-17A protein is a homodimer consisting of two 134 amino acids peptides. IL-17A is secreted mainly by activated CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes and acts through its receptor, IL-17R, to induce the expression of many mediators of inflammation, most strikingly, those that are involved in the proliferation, maturation and chemotaxis of neutrophils. Elevated levels of IL-17A have been associated with several conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, airway inflammation, allograft rejection, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, cancer and multiple sclerosis. There is 58 % identity between the amino acid sequence of human and rat IL-17A. Anti-IL-17A antibody is ideal for investigators involved in Immunology research.

Background
- Anti-Rat IgG (H&L) generated in rabbit detects rat Immunoglobulin G. Both the Heavy and Light chains of the antibody molecule are present. Representing approximately 75 % of serum immunoglobulins, IgG is the most abundant antibody isotype found in the circulation. IgG molecules are synthesized and secreted by plasma B cells. Secondary Antibodies are available in a variety of formats and conjugate types. When choosing a secondary antibody product, consideration must be given to species and immunoglobulin specificity, conjugate type, fragment and chain specificity, level of cross-reactivity, and host-species source and fragment composition.
