  1. GIMAP1 and SERHL (show SERHL Proteins) variants may be important for appendicular lean mass

  2. Shows a critical role for the related mouse gene in mature lymphocyte development and survival.

  3. The himap1 gene belongs to a gene family clustered on chromosome 7q32-36 within a region highly syntenic to the mouse imap38 locus on chromosome 6B.

  4. GIMAP1 and GIMAP4 (show GIMAP4 Proteins) genes are up-regulated by IL-12 (show IL12A Proteins) and other Th1 (show TH1L Proteins) differentiation-inducing cytokines in cells induced to differentiate toward Th1 (show TH1L Proteins) lineage and down-regulated by IL-4 (show IL4 Proteins) in cells induced to Th2.

Mouse (Murine) GTPase, IMAP Family Member 1 (GIMAP1) interaction partners

  1. This study shows that GIMAP1 is critical for maintaining the peripheral T-cell pool in mice and offers a potent target for the treatment of T-cell-mediated diseases.

  2. The data suggest that GIMAP1 is absolutely essential for the survival of peripheral B cells, irrespective of their activation state.

  3. These findings show a vital requirement for GIMAP1 in mature lymphocyte development/survival

  4. The model of up-regulation of GIMAP1 in response to infection/immunization with P. chabaudi is not a robustly reproducible experimental system.

GTPase, IMAP Family Member 1 (GIMAP1) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

This gene encodes a protein belonging to the GTP-binding superfamily and to the immuno-associated nucleotide (IAN) subfamily of nucleotide-binding proteins. In humans, the IAN subfamily genes are located in a cluster at 7q36.1. This gene is thought to be involved in the differentiation of T helper (Th) cells of the Th1 lineage, and the related mouse gene has been shown to be critical for the development of mature B and T lymphocytes. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the downstream GIMAP5 (GTPase, IMAP family member 5) gene.
