LUM encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family that includes decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. Additionally we are shipping Lumican Antibodies (71) and Lumican Kits (29) and many more products for this protein.

the role of lumican in the development of axial myopia
fibroblasts stimulated with the fibrocyte-secreted inflammatory signal tumor necrosis factor-alpha (show TNF Proteins) secrete the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (show Vcan Proteins) lumican.
This meta-analysis suggests that LUM polymorphisms are associated with the risk of high myopia.
The results suggest that regions within LUM is associated with ACL (show ACLY Proteins) injury susceptibility and that genetic sequence variability within genes encoding proteoglycans may potentially modulate the ligament fibril properties.
meta-analysis, including 1,545 subjects from 5 studies, indicated that Chinese lumican rs3759223 C allele carriers had a decreased risk of high myopia in comparison to T allele carriers
These findings suggest that lumican is a potent differential diagnostic marker that distinguishes hidroacanthoma simplex from clonal-type seborrheic keratosis.
Lumican, decorin (show DCN Proteins) and dermatopontin (show DPT Proteins) are differentially expressed and may serve as biomarkers for metastatic and recurrent Giant cell tumor of bone
Lumican binds ALK5 (show TGFBR1 Proteins) to promote epithelium wound healing
Lack of Lumican expression is associated with recurrence in colon cancer.
These findings suggest that lumican plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Bowen disease and actinic keratosis
lumican may be involved in cell growth and invasion through the regulation of 24 proteins expressed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
LUM may coordinate multiple factors of collagen assembly in the murine heart.
Lumican and biglycan (show BGN Proteins) influence corneal keratocyte lamellipodia organization and are critical in the regulation of stromal collagen fibrillogenesis.
Alterations in glycosylated lumican core protein might be implicated in myocardial remodeling and reverse remodeling, with a potential important role for CS/DS GAG chain-synthesizing enzymes.
pro-inflammatory cytokine TNF-alpha (show TNF Proteins) was comparably low 24 hours after infection, but significantly higher in the Lum(-/-) compared to Lum(+/-) infected corneas by 2-5 days after infection
lumican present in the reactive stroma surrounding prostate primary tumors plays a restrictive role on cancer progression
To investigate the functional role of lumican in hepatic fibrosis, lumican null (Null) and wild-type (WT) littermates were administered carbon tetrachloride intra-peritoneally. Hepatic fibrosis was greatly reduced in null animals.
lumican has a major protective role in gram-negative bacterial infections, a novel function for small leucine-rich repeat proteoglycans.
deficiency combined with fibromodulin (show FMOD Proteins) deficiency manifest several clinical features or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
The results indicate that the cysteine-rich domain of lumican is important in collagen fibrillogenesis and stromal matrix assembly
lumican has a novel regulatory role in keratocan (show KERA Proteins) expression at the transcriptional level
These results suggest that lumican plays a pivotal role in the development of tissue engineered cartilage and that regulation of this protein may be important for the production of high-quality implants.
FGF-2 (show FGF2 Proteins)- and TGF-beta1 (show TGFB1 Proteins)-activation of JNK (show MAPK8 Proteins) signaling pathway may be partly responsible for the downregulation of keratocan (show KERA Proteins) and lumican expression in activated corneal keratocytes observed during corneal stromal wound healing.
This gene encodes a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family that includes decorin, biglycan, fibromodulin, keratocan, epiphycan, and osteoglycin. In these bifunctional molecules, the protein moiety binds collagen fibrils and the highly charged hydrophilic glycosaminoglycans regulate interfibrillar spacings. Lumican is the major keratan sulfate proteoglycan of the cornea but is also distributed in interstitial collagenous matrices throughout the body. Lumican may regulate collagen fibril organization and circumferential growth, corneal transparency, and epithelial cell migration and tissue repair.
