Human butyrophilin, Subfamily 2, Member A1 (BTN2A1) interaction partners

  1. A comparison of the allele frequencies or genotype distributions by the chi2 test revealed that rs6929846 of BTN2A1 was significantly associated with dyslipidemia.

  2. BTN2A1 may be a susceptibility gene for myocardial infarction in Japanese individuals.

  3. Genetic variants of APOA5 (show APOA5 Proteins) and BTN2A1 may synergistically affect the prevalence of dyslipidemia in East Asian populations and of metabolic syndrome in Japanese individuals.

  4. BTN2A1 may be a susceptibility gene for Type 2 diabetes in Japanese individuals

  5. Results suggest that BTN2A1 may be a susceptibility gene for chronic kidney disease in Japanese individuals.

  6. BTN2A1 may be a susceptibility gene for hypertension in Japanese individuals, with the T allele being related to high blood pressure.

  7. associations of rs6929846 of butyrophilin subfamily 2 member A1 to myocardial infarction among individuals stratified by the absence or presence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease

  8. The relationship between rs6929846 of BTN2A1 or rs2569512 of ILF3 and myocardial infarction is influenced by the serum concentrations of high density lipoprotein cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol, respectively.

  9. Rather than interacting with T cells, butyrophilin BTN2A1 is recognized by DC-SIGN (show CD209 Proteins) on immature monocyte-derived dendritic cells.

BTN2A1 Protein Profile

Protein Summary

This gene is a member of the BTN2 subfamily of genes, which encode proteins belonging to the butyrophilin protein family. The gene is located in a cluster on chromosome 6, consisting of seven genes belonging to the expanding B7/butyrophilin-like group, a subset of the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The encoded protein is an integral plasma membrane B box protein involved in lipid, fatty-acid and sterol metabolism. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
