(Prostaglandin-Endoperoxide Synthase 2 (Prostaglandin G/H Synthase and Cyclooxygenase) (PTGS2))
COX2 (Cyclooxygenase-2) is an inducible enzyme. It is involved in the response of cells to growth factors, tumor promoters and cytokines that induce its expression. COX2 expression markedly increased in 85-90 % of human colorectal adenocarcinoma whereas COX1 levels remain unchanged.Synonyms: COX2, Cyclooxygenase-2, PGH synthase 2, PGHS-2, PGHS2, PHS II, PTGS2, Prostaglandin G/H synthase 2, Prostaglandin H2 synthase 2, Prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2
