CDC7L1, CDC7 type protein kinase, regulates firing of the origins of initiation in DNA replication. CDC7L1 forms a complex with a Dbf4-related regulatory subunit to generate an active kinase. Mini-chromosome maintenance protein (MCM) is the major physiological target of Cdc7L1. At least three mRNA variants have been reported. Overexpression of the CDC7L1 protein may be associated with neoplastic transformation for some tumors. CDC7L1 has been documented in a wide range of tissues. One variant is expressed ubiquitously in human tissues while at least one other has been shown to be testis-specific. ESTs have been isolated from several tissue libraries, including normal embryo, gallbladder, lymph node and thymus and cancerous duodenum and embryo.Synonyms: CDC7-related kinase, CDC7L1, Cell division cycle 7-related protein kinase, HsCdc7, huCdc7
