Additional Information

Alternative name microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 gamma (MAP1LC3C, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3 C)
Swiss-Prot Q9BXW4
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from human microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 gamma (MAP1LC3C, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3 C) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein has been used as the immunogen.
Format Lyophilized
Isotype IgG  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Description Autophagy is the process by which endogenous proteins and damaged organelles are destroyed intracellularly.autophagy is postulated to be essential for cell homeostasis and cell remodeling during differentiation, metamorphosis, non-apoptotic cell death, and aging. Reduced levels ofautophagy have been described in some malignant tumors, and a role forautophagy in controlling the unregulated cell growth linked to cancer has been proposed. FUNCTION: Probably involved in formation of autophagosomal vacuoles (autophagosomes). SUBUNIT: 3 different light chains, LC1, LC2 and LC3, can associate with MAP1A and MAP1B proteins. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm. Intracytoplasmic membrane; Lipid-anchor. Cytoplasmic vesicle, autophagosome membrane; Lipid-anchor. Note: LC3-II binds to the autophagic membranes. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Most abundant in placenta, lung and ovary. The precursor molecule is cleaved by APG4B/ATG4B to form the cytosolic form, LC3-I. This is activated by APG7L/ATG7, transferred to ATG3 and conjugated to phospholipid to form the membrane-bound form, LC3-II. Also known as: Microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3C, MAP1LC3C, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3 C, MAP1A/1B light chain 3 C, MAP1 light chain 3-like protein 3,autophagy-related protein LC3 C,autophagy-related ubiquitin-like modifier LC3C.
Specificity Appears to be specific for MAP1LC3C.

Application Details

Application Notes IHC, WB. Use at a concentration of 10-50 µg/ml. The optimal working concentration should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.
Purity IgG
Storage Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
