Immunogen Peptide sequence around AA 29-33 (S-G-I-S-L) derived from Caspase 3. Antibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with synthetic peptide and KLH conjugates.
Specificity The antibody detects endogenous level of total Caspase 3 protein.
Purification Affinity purified
Alternative Name Caspase 3 (CASP3 Antibody Abstract)
Background Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. At the onset of apoptosis it proteolytically cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) at a '216-Asp-|-Gly-217' bond. Cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) between the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper domain and the membrane attachment domain. Cleaves and activates caspase-6, -7 and -9. Involved in the cleavage of huntingtin.
Molecular Weight 17 kDa
Gene ID 836
NCBI Accession NP_004337
UniProt P42574
Research Area Proteolysis / Ubiquitin, Apoptosis/Necrosis
Pathways Apoptosis, Caspase Cascade in Apoptosis
Application Notes Western blotting: 1:1000
