Antigen
Alternative Name Cytokeratin 18 (KRT18 Antibody Abstract)
Background Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filaments of epithelial cells, both in keratinizing tissue(ie, skin) and non keratinizing cells (ie. mesothelial cells). Although not a traditionalmarker for endothelial cells, cytokeratins have also been found in some microvascularendothelial cells. Atleast 20 different cytokeratins (CK) in the molecular range of 40-70kDa and isoelectric points of 5-8.5 can be identified using two dimensional gelelectrophoresis. Biochemically, most members of the CK family fall into one of twoclasses, type I (acidic polypeptides) and type II (basic polypeptides). At least onemember of the acidic family and one member of the basic family is expressed in allepithelial cells. Monoclonal antibodies to cytokeratin proteins can be useful markers fortumor identification and classification. Cytokeratin 18 is an acidic keratin which is found primarily in non squamous epitheliaand is present in a majority of adenocarcinomas and ductal carcinomas but not insquamous cell carcinomas. Cytokeratin 18 exists in combination with Cytokeratin 8, abasic keratin. Hepatocellular carcinomas have been reportedly defined by the use ofantibodies that recognize only Cytokeratins 8 and 18. Alternate Names: anti-CK 18 antibody, anti-CYK18 antibody, anti-Cytokeratin endo B antibody,anti-Keratin 18 antibody, anti-Keratin D antibody, anti-Keratin type I cytoskeletal 18antibody, anti-Kerd antibody, anti-KRT18 antibody.

Concentration 1.0 mg/mL
Buffer PBS, pH 7.4, Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Handling Advice Do not freeze.
Storage 4 °C
