Background
- CD369 (Dectin-1), also known as CLEC7A, is a 43 kD type II transmembrane protein. The extracellular portion of Dectin-1 contains one C-type lectin domain, and its cytoplasmic tail has one immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM). Dectin-1 binds β -1,3-linked and β-1,6-glucans (abundant in the cell wall of fungi and yeast), mediates phagocytosis, and induces cytokine production and oxidative burst. It is also involved in TLR2-mediated NF-kB activation. Dectin-1 is expressed by macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic, and Langerhans cells.
