Characteristics
- Calreticulin, a Ca2+ chaperone, is an abundant highly conserved calcium binding protein found in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum of eukaryotic cells. This lumen protein can be used to measure the intactness of membrane preparations. It is used as a marker for subcellular fractionation of cells.
