Application Notes
Suitable for Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry (Frozen or Formalin-FixedParaffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue sections and cell smears). For IHC dilute concentared antibody at 1/50-1/100, use streptavidinapprox. biotin system orpolymer system, incubate 30 minutes at room temperature. FFPE tissue section requires antigen retriever (boiling tissue in 10 mM citrate, pH 6.0 for 20 mins, followed by cooling at RT for 20 mins). Recommended Positive Control: Human colon, stomach, pancreas, intestine, breastcarcinomas. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Background
The CA 19-9 antigen is a monosialosyl Le (a) blood group antigen which has been shown to be a useful-associated antigen for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancers. This antigen is known to be a ligand for the cell adhesion molecule called ELAM-1 (E-selectin, endothelial cell leukocyte adhesion molecule-1, which is present on cytokine-activated human endothelial cells. Selectin GMP-140 (CD62,PADGEM) binds to sialosyl Le (a) and sulfated glycans modulate this binding.Synonyms: CA19-9, Sialosyl Lewis a, Sialyl Lewis a
