- Characteristics
- Retinoic acid receptors (RAR) are nuclear receptors that are activated by both all-trans retinoic acid and 9-cis retinoic acid. There are three retinoic acid receptors (RAR), RAR-a, RAR-b and RAR-g. RAR-g has two splice isoforms. RAR-g heterodimerizes with RXR and in the absence of ligand, the RAR/RXR dimer binds to hormone response elements complexed with co-repressor protein. Binding of agonist ligands to RAR results in dissociation of co-repressor and recruitment of coactivator protein which in turn promotes transcription of the downstream target gene into mRNA and eventually protein. RAR-gamma antibody (mAb) (Clone 4g-7A11) was raised in a Mouse host. It has been validated for use in Immunohistochemistry, Supershift and Western blot, it has been shown to react with Human samples.
