The Rabbit Polyclonal anti-IL16 antibody (ABIN7229092) specifically detects IL16 in WB and ELISA.
The antibody is reactive with Human and Mouse samples.
Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. Suggested starting dilutions are as follows: WB 1:500-2000,ELISA 1:10000-20000

Background
Pro-interleukin-16, Pro-IL16, Pro-IL16,The protein encoded by IL16 is a pleiotropic cytokine that functions as a chemoattractant, a modulator of T cell activation, and an inhibitor of HIV replication. The signaling process of this cytokine is mediated by CD4. The product of IL16 undergoes proteolytic processing, which is found to yield two functional proteins. The cytokine function is exclusively attributed to the secreted C-terminal peptide, while the N-terminal product may play a role in cell cycle control. Caspase 3 is reported to be involved in the proteolytic processing of this protein. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. IL16 (Interleukin 16) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with IL16 include Whipple Disease and Viral Meningitis. Among its related pathways are Akt Signaling and PEDF Induced Signaling.
