  • Target

    CoREST (RCOR1) (REST Corepressor 1 (RCOR1))

    Alternative Name

    CoREST

    Background

Background: CoREST has been identified as a component of a histone deacetylase (HDAC) complex as well as an interacting protein and corepressor of the REST (repressor element 1 silencing transcription factor) transcription factor. HDAC complexes deacetylate chromatin to repress transcription and silence genes. The CoREST complex may be important in restricting gene expression in a tissue-specific manner.
