    Background

Background: Sec23IP is a protein found to interact with Sec23p which is part of COPII that coats vesicles involved in protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the golgi. COPII consists of Sar 1p and two protein complexes made up of Sec23p-Sec24p, and Sec13p-Sec31p. It appears that Sec23IP makes an important contribution to the organization of ER exit sites.
