Background
- Background: Cancer susceptibility candidate gene 5 protein (CASC5) is predominantly expressed in testis and widely expressed in various human tumor cell lines and primary tumors from various tissues and organs. CASC5 is most frequently expressed in lung cancer and has been identified as a fusion-partner of the mixed lineage leukemia (MLL) gene, a gene often activated by chromosomal translocation in leukemias. CASC5 has also been identified as a component of the Mis12 kinetochore complex that is required for proper chromosome segregation.
