    RNASEH2A (Ribonuclease H2, Subunit A (RNASEH2A))

    Alternative Name

    RNASEH2A

    Background

Background: RNASEH2A is the catalytic subunit of RNase HII, an endonuclease that specifically degrades the RNA of RNA:DNA hybrids. RNASEH2A participates in DNA replication, possibly by mediating the removal of lagging-strand Okazaki fragment RNA primers during DNA replication. It also mediates the excision of single ribonucleotides from DNA:RNA duplexes [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 10535)].
