- MARK3 (MAP/microtubule Affinity-Regulating Kinase 3 (MARK3))
-
Alternative Name
- MARK3

Background
- Background: MARK3 (Microtubule-affinity regulating kinase 3) is also known as PAR-1a (partition-defective 1a) and is a member of a family of kinases that plays a role in cell polarity and cell-cycle control. There are four PAR-1/MARK isoforms encoded by independent genes: MARK1 (PAR-1c), MARK2 (PAR-1b/EMK), MARK3(PAR-1a), and MARK4 (PAR-1d/MARKL1). MARK isoforms phosphorylates microtubule associated proteins (MAPs) such as MAP2, MAP4, and tau to regulate their association with microtubules.
