Background
 - Background: FOXO4 (fork-head box O4) is a fork-head DNA-binding domain containing protein and functions as a transcription factor involved in the regulation of the insulin signaling pathway. FOXO4 binds to insulin-response elements (IREs) and can activate transcription of IGFBP1. It also down-regulates expression of HIF1A and suppresses hypoxia-induced transcriptional activation of HIF1A-modulated genes, and is involved in the negative regulation of the cell cycle [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) P98177].
