  • Target

    SUN2 (Sad1 and UNC84 Domain Containing 2 (SUN2))

    Alternative Name

    SUN2

    Background

Synonyms: Interleukin-32, IL-32, Natural killer cells protein 4, Tumor necrosis factor alpha-inducing factor, IL32, NK4, TAIF

Tissue Specificity: Selectively expressed in lymphocytes. Expression is more prominent in immune cells than in non-immune cells.

Background: SUN1 and SUN2 are inner nuclear membrane (INM) proteins that play a major role in nuclear-cytoplasmic connection by formation of a 'bridge' across the nuclear envelope, known as the LINC complex, via interaction with the conserved luminal KASH domain of nesprins located in the outer nuclear membrane (ONM). The LINC complex provides a connection between the nuclear lamina and the cytoskeleton, which contributes to nuclear positioning and cellular rigidity.
