  • Target

SYNE2 (Spectrin Repeat Containing, Nuclear Envelope 2 (SYNE2))

    Alternative Name

    SYNE2

    Background

Synonyms: E3 SUMO-protein ligase PIAS3, Protein inhibitor of activated STAT protein 3, PIAS3

    Tissue Specificity: Widely expressed.

Background: Nesprin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYNE2 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear outer membrane protein that binds cytoplasmic F-actin. This binding tethers the nucleus to the cytoskeleton and aids in the maintenance of the structural integrity of the nucleus. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
