The Ly-6 family is involved in the regulation of B cell and T cell activation. Ly6A is expressed on pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) and is used as a marker for mouse HSC. Ly6A is ubiquitous in fetal liver, adult bone marrow, adult peripheral blood and spleen.
