This protein facilitates the interaction between arachidonic acid and the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX5), enabling the production of leukotrienes that mediate inflammation and immune responses.

Functionally, ALOX5AP antibody identifies a 161-amino-acid integral membrane protein located primarily in the nuclear envelope and endoplasmic reticulum.
