Background
- Complement Component C3a is a 9 KDa, 77 amino acid peptide, and is one of the cleavage products formed when C3 convertase splits C3 into C3a and C3b. C3 along with C1, C2 and C4 is involved in the initial stages of complement activation via the classical complement pathway. C3a is an anaphylatoxin along with C4a and C5a. C3a also allows for cellular chemotaxis.Synonyms: CPAMD1, Complement component 3
