Background: CyclinA2 belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family whose members are characterized by a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle and function as regulators of CDKs. CyclinA2 is an essential component of all embryonic and somatic cell cycles in mammals (1). CyclinA2 is highly expressed in the testis and certain myeloid leukemia cells (2).
