- FGF7 (Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 (FGF7))
-
Alternative Name
- Keratinocyte Growth Factor
-
Background
- Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) , also known as FGF-7, is a member of FGF family. It is a cytokine discovered in the culture supernatant of embryonic lung fibroblasts. KGF, an effective epithelial cell-specific growth factor, is secreted by mesenchymal cells and its receptor is distributed in epithelial cells. Its mitotic activity is mainly manifested in keratinocytes, which can specifically stimulate the proliferation, migration and differentiation of epithelial cells. It also closely relate to organ development, wound healing, tumorigenesis and immune reconstruction etc.
