Background
-
Protein Background: SETD5 (SET Domain Containing 5), based on sequence similarity, is a member of SET domain proteins, and might displays histone methyltransferase activity in vitro. It was reported to monomethylate 'Lys-9' of histone H3 in vitro. The physiological significance of this activity is unclear and its activity has yet to be determined. SETD5 is a probable transcriptional regulator that acts via the formation of large multiprotein complexes that modify and/or remodel the chromatin. According to researchers, it may act as a regulator of histone acetylation during gene transcription.
Short Description: Recombinant SETD5 (185-416) protein that includes amino acids 185-416 of human SETD5 protein (accession number NP_001073986.1) was expressed in E.coli and contains an N-terminal 6xHis tag. The molecular weight of this SETD5 protein is 30.4 kDa.
Aliases: SET Domain Containing 5, Histone-Lysine N-Methyltransferase SETD5, EC 2.1.1.43
