- Background
-
Phospho-enriched protein in astrocytes 15 kDa (PEA-15) is a death effector domain (DED)-containing protein predominantly expressed in the central nervous system, particularly in astrocytes. This protein has been implicated in the regulation of multiple cellular processes including apoptosis, proliferation, glucose transport, adhesion and migration. Increased PEA-15 levels may affect tumorigenesis and cancer progression, thus it is overexpressed in breast cancers and gliomas as well as in type 2 diabetes. Recombinant human PEA-15 was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.
