Data suggest that heat shock proteins, in particular Hsp90 (show HSP90 Antibodies), stimulate APOBEC3 (show APOBEC3F Antibodies)-mediated DNA deamination activity toward hepatitis B viral DNA, suggesting a potential physiological role in mutagenesis/carcinogenesis and viral innate immunity; Hsp90 (show HSP90 Antibodies) stimulates deamination activity of APOBEC3G, APOBEC3B (show APOBEC3B Antibodies), and APOBEC3C (show APOBEC3C Antibodies) during co-expression in human liver HepG2 cells.
Study indicates that the A3G rs8177832 polymorphism is associated with a decreased risk of chronic hepatitis B virus infection and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC (show FAM126A Antibodies)), while the rs2011861 polymorphism is associated with an increased risk of HCC (show FAM126A Antibodies).
APOBEC3G through its variants rs6001417, rs8177832, and rs35228531, in this study interferes with HIV-1/HBV co-infection could be due the HIV-1 mono-infection in a population from Burkina Faso.
APOBEC3DE (show APOBEC3D Antibodies) binds to itself, APOBEC3F (show APOBEC3F Antibodies), and APOBEC3G and antagonizes APOBEC3F (show APOBEC3F Antibodies) and, to a lesser extent, APOBEC3G restriction of hepatitis B virus replication.
cyclin F (show CCNF Antibodies) functions as an intrinsic cellular regulator of HIV-1 Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies) and has a negative regulatory effect on the maintenance of viral infectivity by restoring APOBEC3G expression. Gene Indexing Project Expand All Collapse All
These results indicate that APOBEC3 (show APOBEC3F Antibodies) proteins can be copackaged and can comutate the same genomes, and can cooperate to inhibit HIV replication.
Here, the authors show that APOBEC3G polyubiquitination is essential for its HIV-1 vif (show BTG1 Antibodies)-induced degradation.
DNA mutagenic activity and capacity for HIV-1 restriction of the cytidine deaminase (show CDA Antibodies) APOBEC3G depend on whether DNA or RNA binds to tyrosine 315
The findings suggest that APOBEC3G polymorphisms alone may not have significant predictive power for inferring genetic susceptibility to vertical transmission of HIV in children perinatally exposed to HIV
APOBEC3G polymorphism as a selective barrier to cross-species transmission and emergence of pathogenic SIV and AIDS in a primate host.
The arginine at position 14 of the SIV Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies) is a critical residue for virus restriction by rhA3D, rhA3G and rhA3H.
APOBEC3F (show APOBEC3F Antibodies)/G-specific responses in HIV-1-infected rhesus macaques are CD8 (show CD8A Antibodies)+ T cell mediated.
Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies) proteins of human and simian immunodeficiency viruses require cellular CBFbeta (show CBFB Antibodies) to degrade APOBEC3G.
simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies) binds to and requires CBF-beta (show CBFB Antibodies) to degrade rhesus macaque APOBEC3G
Increased APOBEC3G and APOBEC3F (show APOBEC3F Antibodies) expression is associated with low viral load and prolonged survival in simian immunodeficiency virus infected rhesus monkeys.
APOBEC3 (show APOBEC3F Antibodies) proteins restrict xenotropic murine leukemia virus-related virus infections in a Macaca mulatta model.
Alteration of the conserved sequence at positions 14 to 17 from DRMR to SERQ, which is the sequence in AGM (show IGFBP7 Antibodies) Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies), caused HIV-1 Vif (show BTG1 Antibodies) to functionally interact with rhAPOBEC3G and agmAPOBEC3G
Upregulation of APOBEC3G may restrict spread of SIV in the brain and thus limit brain damage during lentiviral infection
This gene is a member of the cytidine deaminase gene family. It is one of seven related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22. Members of the cluster encode proteins that are structurally and functionally related to the C to U RNA-editing cytidine deaminase APOBEC1. It is thought that the proteins may be RNA editing enzymes and have roles in growth or cell cycle control. The protein encoded by this gene has been found to be a specific inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) infectivity.
